
William P. “Bill” Scholar Sr., 75, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, in Shawano.
William was born on Sept. 24, 1939, in Houghton, Michigan, to the late Lorraine Scholar.
William spent his childhood in Michigan before moving to Wisconsin with his family. He
eventually moved to Indiana where he lived for 20 years before returning to Shawano. Bill
worked as an auto mechanic for Shamoco Ford for many years and later drove truck for Reinhart
as well as numerous other trucking companies. In his younger years he was an avid bowler. Bill
was a quiet man with a great sense of humor. He loved nothing more than spending time with
his family and he will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
William is survived by his sons, William “Bill” (Laura) Scholar Jr., of Shawano, and Jeff (Beth)
Scholar, of Columbus, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Courtney Scholar, Amber Scholar, Jonathon
Alcorn, Zach Scholar, Emily Scholar, Chris (Shelby) Scholar, Brittni Scholar and Brianna
Scholar; six great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Carol (fiancé Larry Mott) Walter, Kathy (Tim)
Gast, John (Laverne Burmeister) Goodreau Jr., Tom (Crystal Konig) Goodreau, Sharon (Paul)
Pietila, Dennis (Julie) Kyllonen and Robert (Beth) Ruoho. He is further survived by his
significant other, Janice Allison, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa; his parents, John and Lorraine Goodreau Sr.; and
one sister, Judy.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at River Valley Church
in Shawano with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating. Entombment will be at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
