Wayne M. Van der Linden

Wayne Michael Van der Linden, 77, passed away with his family by his side on Nov. 9, 2015, after a two-year illness.

Wayne was born on June 29, 1938, in Milwaukee, son of the late Sydney and Lorraine (Sonnemann) Van der Linden. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in West Allis. He was united in marriage to Glenna Amidon on Sept. 6, 1958.

Wayne worked as a plumber and a master plumber until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in the town of Belle Plaine. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, and enjoyed spending time with his family at the cottage on Long Lake. Wayne also enjoyed turkey and deer hunting, as well as fishing.

Wayne is survived by his son, Glenn; his daughter, Cheryl (Steve) Rouse; three granddaughters, Stephanie, Brittany (special friend, Cody) and Courtney Rouse; two brothers, Sydney (Sandra) and Thomas (Karen) Van der Linden; very special friends, Shanda Hubertus-Malak and Shaun Malak; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenna, and his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine with the Rev. Kurt Kluge officiating. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shanda, Pastor Kurt Kluge and all his caregivers for all their help, care and compassion. Dad, we loved you very much and will miss you dearly. May the Lord take good care of you now. Your loving family
