Virginia G. Doxtator

Virginia G. Doxtator, 69, of Gresham, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, in Green Bay.

Virginia was born on Feb. 22, 1946, in Oneida. On March 10, 1968, Virginia was united in marriage to Johnny F. Doxtator, who preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2015. They lived in Chicago for many years before returning to Gresham in 1988. She was a member of the Keshena Assembly of God Church.

Virginia is survived by her children, George Plamann, Laurie Doxtator, Jakki Doxtator, Clint Doxtator, Cookie Doxtator, Steppi Doxtator, Anahlea Doxtator; stepsons, Johnny Doxtator, Roy Doxtator and Phillip Doxtator; numerous grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny, her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Michael Eldridge officiating. Burial will be in the Red Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Delores M. Wruck

Delores M. Wruck, 84, formerly of Wausau, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at Cloverleaf Terrace, Birnamwood.

She was born April 11, 1931, in Bowler to the late Walter and Alma (Bierman) Baker. On Jan. 21, 1950, she married Raymond Wruck at St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano. In her earlier years, Delores had worked at Wausau Hospital in the housekeeping department. For many years, Delores and Ray had belonged to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wausau, where Delores was a member of the Ladies Aid. They enjoyed traveling and fishing at Long Lake in Harrison Hills. Her favorite past times included sewing, crocheting afghans, reading and gardening. Delores was known for her baking skills and always made sure the cookie jar was full.

Survivors include her three sons, Dennis (Lana), of Birnamwood, Randy (Vicki), of Birnamwood, Dale (Lois), of Hatley; four grandchildren, Robb (fiancé-Ellie) Wruck, Amanda (Joel) Case, Jeremy and Matthew Wruck; two great-grandsons, Kyler Wruck and Jason Case; one great-great-granddaughter, McKinnley Rae Wruck; four stepgrandchildren, Adam (Debbie) Resch, Heather (Ernie) Koeppel, Lacey and Nicki Schreurs; eight great-stepgrandchildren, Austin, Jayda and Mason Resch, Payton and Landon Praslowicz, Kolton Klitzka, Christina Schreurs, Alexis Mattson; and many nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by Ray on Nov. 12, 2004; her daughter, Diana, on May 7, 2012; two sisters, Betty (Wallace) Hintz and Joanne (Allen) Hintz; and her brother, Arnold (Elaine) Baker.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. The Rev. Adam Roberts will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. On Thursday, visitation will resume at 10 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Wausau, concluding with prayers at 11:30 a.m.

Donna Mae Miesbauer, 87, of Shawano, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 1, 2015, at Bellin Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

A memorial Mass for Donna Miesbauer will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawano. The Rev. Luke Ferris will be the celebrant. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9 a.m. on Friday until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials in her name for Sacred Heart Catholic School.

John T. Malone Sr.

John Terry Malone Sr., 60, of De Pere, passed away on Aug. 13, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. John was born on Oct. 11, 1954, in Shawano to the late Otho H. and Sophrona (Doxtator) Malone. On Oct. 11, 2009, John was united in marriage to Mary Parra in Bowler. John had a great smile and a great sense of humor. He was a generous man, always willing to help others. In his free time, John enjoyed playing the guitar, working on cars, and taking road trips. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be deeply missed.

John is survived by his wife, Mary; four children, Shashe, Shawnaway, John Jr. and Angelina; his grandchildren, Layla, Isabella, Diovani, Delano, DheOntro, Pearl, Daniel, Donte, DaMarcus, Xzaundre, Allysandra, Niyah, Alliauna, Avryauna, and another granddaughter on the way. He is further survived by two sisters, Lois (Melvin) Siim and Brenda Curtis, both of Bowler; one brother, Wayne (Cheryl) Malone, of Bowler, and his father-in-law, Gilbert Parra.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Donna, Velma, and Eleanor; and one brother, Otho.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Melinda Shriner officiating. Visitation will be held at the Malone Residence located at 2803 Metoxen Lane in De Pere on Friday from 4 p.m. until the procession leaves for the funeral home on Sunday.

Phyllis Jane Schutt

Phyllis Jane Schutt, 84, of Shawano, died on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015. Born on June 15, 1931, in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Alma (Dobbs) Rusch. On Sept. 26, 1953, Phyllis was united in marriage to Arley Schutt in Shawano. Arley preceded her in death in 2008. Phyllis was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.

Phyllis is survived by: her two children, Marsha (Duane) Mussack, of Shawano, and Kathryn Collins, of Shawano; two grandchildren, Ryan (Natalie) Mussack and Kyle Collins; and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Kaiden Collins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Linda I. Bohm

Linda I. Bohm, 93, of the town of Richmond, passed away Monday afternoon, Aug. 10, 2015, at Kindred Hearts in Shawano.

Linda was born on July 18, 1922, in the town of Richmond, Shawano County, a daughter of the late Albert and Louise (Mansee) Wendorff. She attended country schools and later attended Shawano High School. After high school, Linda moved to Milwaukee, where she was employed as a private nanny. On Nov. 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lawrence A. Bohm in Menominee, Michigan. Following their marriage, the couple lived in the town of Richmond. They spent their entire married life in the Shawano area.

Linda had been employed as a clerk at various stores in Shawano. When her husband retired, the couple enjoyed travelling the Midwest. Lawrence preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1994. Linda was a good and faithful member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the town of Richmond. She loved to play cards, sew and quilt. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed tending her flower gardens. She cherished her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

Linda is survived by her loving sons, Larry (Brenda) Bohm, of Bowler, David (Patti) Bohm, of the town of Richmond, and Mike Bohm, of Shawano; five grandchildren, Mark (Shelly) Bohm, Melissa (Dan) Cruz, Andrew (Melissa) Bohm, Tara (Ward Peterson) Bohm and Jake (Katie) Bohm; 11 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Matthew, Cassie, Caleb, William, Alex, Taylor, Skye, Gabriel, Hudson and Brooks; one brother-in-law, Willard (Beatrice) Bohm; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by an infant son, and 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Linda Bohm will be held on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church, town of Richmond. Pastor Travis Kleinschmidt will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Jakobi Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. A memorial fund has been established in her name for St. Jakobi Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Richard Herman Klawitter, 84, of Suring, passed away at Woodland Village Nursing Home in Suring on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015. He was born in Breed on March 29, 1931, to the late Otto and Hazel (Bennett) Klawitter.

Visitation will be held at Suring United Methodist Church on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Weaver officiating. Richard will be interred in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano at 2 p.m. with full military rites.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Suring United Methodist Church and the Suring Public Library.

Leroy J. Hiltgen

Leroy “Lee” Joseph Hiltgen, 82, of Tilleda, passed away peacefully at Shawano Medical Center with family by his side on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015 after a battle with multiple serious medical problems. Leroy was born on Jan. 16, 1933, in Sheboygan, the son of the late Arthur and Margaret “Peg” (Zabel) Hiltgen. He was active in scouting as a youth and became an Eagle Scout with bronze palm in 1949 with Troop 57 in Sheboygan. He graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1951; he entered military service in the U.S. Army. After basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he was stationed in occupied Germany from 1953-1955. He was trained as a radio operator specializing in Morse code. Related to this, he was an amateur radio operator (HAM), WA8PHL, throughout young adulthood. He initially worked as a TV repairman for Van’s in Sheboygan, then received formal training in electronics and transistor theory from MSOE in Milwaukee. He worked as an electrical engineer at Heath Co. (Heath-Zenith) in Michigan many years, then in the mid-1970s was owner of Tilleda Falls Campground. He also completed EMT training during this era. He worked for FWD-Seagrave in Clintonville, where he designed truck electrical systems from 1979 until he retired. In his spare time, Lee loved camping, fishing, hunting, and trapping. He spent summers of the late 1960s and 1970s tent camping throughout the USA with his young family. He taught his sons a love and appreciation of these outdoor activities as well. In his later years, he enjoyed many camping, hunting and fishing trips with his wife Mary and her family in the Tilleda area as well as upper Michigan. Lee was an active member of American Legion Post 390 in Gresham and Peace Lutheran Church in Tilleda, past vice president of Peace Lutheran Church Brotherhood and the Tilleda Advancement Club.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Mary; four sons, Jeffrey (Lorrainne), of Mountain Green, Utah, Dr. Gregrey (Gina), of Waupaca, Dr. Daniel (Angie), of Washington, D.C., and Christopher (Dr. Amy Sevais) of Appleton; nine grandchildren, Hiliary, Geoff, Tad, Megan, Carsten, Shelby, Greta, Odyssius, and Zanarkan; four great-grandchildren, Breah, Reagan, Greyson, and Dominic; one sister, Susan (Eugene) Chuvan of Sheboygan; as well as niece Debra Krueger, and nephew Andrew Chuvan.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at Peace Lutheran Church in Tilleda with Lay Pastor Lois Graper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 390. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. and again on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Maynard R. Sohr Jr.

Maynard R. Sohr Jr., 79, of Shawano, died unexpectedly while fishing on Aug. 13, 2015. Maynard was born on Nov. 29, 1935, in Shawano County to the late Maynard A. and Mildred (Westerfeld) Sohr Sr. Maynard graduated from Bonduel High School in 1953. On Jan. 30, 1960, he was united in marriage to Nancy Gilbertson. Maynard owned and operated his family’s farm in the town of Hartland for over 20 years before passing it on to his son in 1983. After farming, he went on to work as a custodian and as a school bus driver for the Bonduel School District. In 1986, Maynard married Susan Svendson. On Aug. 15, 1997, Maynard was united in marriage to Pauline “Foxy” Meidam Beyer near Shawano Lake in the town of Washington. In his free time, Maynard loved to be outdoors and was an avid sportsman.

Maynard is survived by his wife, Pauline; children, Shelly Zernicke, of Bonduel, Brian (Cindy Verhasselt) Sohr, of Bonduel, and Holly Zimmerman, of Shawano; grandchildren, Stacey, Charlotte, Talor, Elizabeth (special friend Ben), Alex and numerous step-grandchildren. He is further survived by Pauline’s children, Pete (Cindy) Beyer of Grand Chute and Diane Kovacs of Seattle, Washington; former wife Nancy Bahr; as well as former wife Susan and her children, Amanda Svendson and John Svendson.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at Swedberg-Zastrow Funeral Home in Cecil with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Inurnment will be at the United Methodist Cemetery in Bonduel. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Jim R. Brunker

Jim R. Brunker, 75, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015. Jim was born on March 30, 1940, in Milwaukee, a son of the late Edward and Mary Brunker. He was raised on a farm in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

On Aug. 12, 1961, Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Kranjec at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in West Allis. Jim was a retired Teamster, having worked for several trucking companies. He was accident free after 26 years of driving.

Jim was always available to help anyone, all it took was a phone call. He was a devoted husband and father. Jim helped coach his sons in baseball and football for several years. He enjoyed watching his sons participate in various sports, and over the years, he was able to watch his grandsons play baseball, participate in fishing tournaments, and many other activities.

Jim was preceded in death by his three brothers, John, Tom, and Richard; and his two sisters, Rosemarie and Eileen.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; his sons, Timothy, Todd, and Tyler; his beloved grandsons, Joshua, Tony, Robert (fiancée Jen), and Teagan; his great-grandson, Lane; his favorite brother-in-law, Randy (Angela); his extended family in Tampa, Florida; and many, many friends.

A time to remember and celebrate the life of Jim Brunker will be held on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015 from 3-4:30 p.m. at Mickelson Funeral & Cremation Service of Shawano, with a memorial service at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial in Jim’s name.

William P. Scholar Sr.

William P. “Bill” Scholar Sr., 75, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, in Shawano.

William was born on Sept. 24, 1939, in Houghton, Michigan, to the late Lorraine Scholar.

William spent his childhood in Michigan before moving to Wisconsin with his family. He

eventually moved to Indiana where he lived for 20 years before returning to Shawano. Bill

worked as an auto mechanic for Shamoco Ford for many years and later drove truck for Reinhart

as well as numerous other trucking companies. In his younger years he was an avid bowler. Bill

was a quiet man with a great sense of humor. He loved nothing more than spending time with

his family and he will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

William is survived by his sons, William “Bill” (Laura) Scholar Jr., of Shawano, and Jeff (Beth)

Scholar, of Columbus, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Courtney Scholar, Amber Scholar, Jonathon

Alcorn, Zach Scholar, Emily Scholar, Chris (Shelby) Scholar, Brittni Scholar and Brianna

Scholar; six great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Carol (fiancé Larry Mott) Walter, Kathy (Tim)

Gast, John (Laverne Burmeister) Goodreau Jr., Tom (Crystal Konig) Goodreau, Sharon (Paul)

Pietila, Dennis (Julie) Kyllonen and Robert (Beth) Ruoho. He is further survived by his

significant other, Janice Allison, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa; his parents, John and Lorraine Goodreau Sr.; and

one sister, Judy.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at River Valley Church

in Shawano with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating. Entombment will be at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

Gerald J. Nacotee, 60, of South Branch, was called to the Spirit World early Sunday morning, Aug. 16, 2015, in Shawano, surrounded by his family.

Gerald was born June 26, 1955, in Keshena, a son of the late Philip and Beulah (Kitchenakow) Nacotee. He attended St Joseph Catholic Grade School and later Franklin Middle School and Shawano High School. Following school he was employed for many years at Menominee Tribal Enterprises as a sawyer. He loved spending most of his time with his family and telling stories.

He is survived by his six sisters, Evy Nacotee, of South Branch, Jayne (Carson) Nacotee, of South Branch, Debra (Roger) McPherson, of Neopit, Rose Madosh, of Shawano, Mer (Tomcat) Johnson, of South Branch, Patricia Nacotee, of Oconto Falls; three brothers, Darrel (LeAnn) Nacotee, of Green Bay, Tom Nacotee, of South Branch, and Michael Kora, of Madison; his godchildren, Sharon Nacotee Lyons, Kim, Kerry and Kelly Nacotee; special nephew, Michael Alex Peters Jr.; many other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; five brothers, Aaron Nacotee, Lyle Nacotee, Jim Hill, Dennis Nacotee and an infant brother, Robert Nacotee; also his Aunt Ag and Uncle Levi.

Funeral services for Gerald Nacotee will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Jayne Nacotee residence, W715 Nacotee Addition, South Branch. The Rev. David Barrett will officiate. Interment will be at St Joseph of the Lake Catholic Cemetery, South Branch. Relatives and friends may call at the Nacotee residence until the time of service on Thursday.

Duane W. Conrad

Duane W. Conrad, 70, of Shawano, passed away on Aug. 15, 2015. He was born on Oct, 23, 1944, to William and Viola (Beilke) Conrad.

Duane lived in Shawano most of his life except when he was serving in the Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and received the Shawano Volunteer of the Year award. Duane was also past commander and a member of the Shawano American Legion Post 117 and Shawano D.A.V., Shawano County Voiture 986 40et8, served on the committee to advise Toby Roth on a veterans outreach clinic in Appleton, assisted in the formation of the support group for Desert Storm vets and was instrumental in forming the Vietnam veterans group in the county.

Duane is survived by several cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Swedberg Funeral Home, Shawano, with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday Aug. 20, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and again from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Bowler, with military rites by Shawano American Legion Post 117.

Gary C. Miller Jr.

Gary Clifford Miller Jr. entered this world for a brief time on Aug. 14, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. He was loved and cherished by his parents and family.

Gary Jr. was the son of Gary and Kacey Miller. He is survived by one sister, Scarlett Miller; his grandparents, James and Rhonda Corn and Anthony and Bettina Miller; great-grandparents, David and Elizabeth Waupekenay and Deloris Delabrue. He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles.

Gary Jr. will always remain his parents’ precious baby boy and Scarlett’s little brother.

The family members would like to thank Shawano Hospital’s nursing OB staff.

Graveside services were held at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Neopit on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. David Barrett officiating.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa; his parents, John and Lorraine Goodreau Sr.; and

one sister, Judy.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at River Valley Church

in Shawano with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating. Entombment was at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Visitation was at the church on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

Mary Braun

Mary Braun, Oconto Falls, formerly of Gillett, died Friday morning, Aug. 14, 2015, at home. She was born Nov. 2, 1924, in the town of Underhill to Edward and Laura (Bistoff) Wollin. Mary grew up on the family farm in Underhill, where she attended Frank School, a one-room school house. As a young girl she moved to Milwaukee for a short time before returning to the area to care for her dying mother.

On April 28, 1945, she married Raymond Braun at Christ Lutheran Church in Hintz. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Milwaukee before returning to the Braun family farm, which they owned and operated for many years and is currently being run by the fifth generation of Brauns, in the town of Gillett.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett and was once active in the women’s activities of the church. Mary will be fondly remembered for great tasting meals she made from scratch for her large family, which she loved doing for them.

Survivors are her five children, Gary Braun, Oconto Falls; Marilyn (Harvey) Fifield, Cheryl (Ken) Kohn, all of Cecil; Karla (Jim) Holl, Larsen; Lori (Scott) Kroll, Corpus Christi, Texas; 15 grandchildren, Marc (Karen) Braun, Stacy (Brett) Lucht, Gina (David) Neumann and Greg Braun, Heidi (Matt) Aprill, Angela (Matt) Pensis and Matthew (Courtney) Fifield, Jeff Kohn, Michelle (James) Worthington and Kevin Kohn, Kimberly (Ryan) Abalan, Aubriann (Nick) Koeune and Brandon Holl, Chelsea (James) Cook and Tyler Kroll; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Schewe, Caroline; two sisters-in-law, Delores Rymer, Green Bay; Sandy (Brian) Hunsaker, Texas; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray, on Jan. 8, 1995; her daughter-in-law, Jeanne Braun on Aug. 4, 2015; three brothers, Harold (Marcy), Norman (Mavis) and Walter (Pearl) Wollin; and three brothers-in-law, Herb Schewe, Richard Rymer and Leonard Braun.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett until the time of service. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Harvey Jeffers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Braun family would like to thank Sharpe Care and The Cottages at MeadowLands for the care and concern shown “Sweet Mary” during their time together.

Allen B. Miller

Allen Miller, 71, of Gillett, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, in Green Bay.

Allen was born on Dec. 16, 1943, in Oconto Falls to the late Walter and Anna (Konop) Miller Sr. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Army and served until he was honorably discharged. On Sept. 19, 1964, Allen was united in marriage to Norma Reed in White Clay Lake; together the couple had two children. Allen owned and operated his own business as a concrete contractor for many years. On Oct. 4, 1997, he married Jacquelynn Babicky in Gillett.

Allen was a generous man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and trips to casinos.

Allen is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jacquelynn; two children, Bruce (Lisa) Miller, of Gillett, and Lisa (Dave) Erb, of Elgin, Illinois; six grandchildren, Kelli, Nathan, Cameron, Aaron, Emily and Samuel; one great-grandson, Evan; five siblings, Sylvia Kahler, June Miller, Natalie (Jim) Spang, Dean (Nora) Miller and Robert (Karen) Miller; as well as his former wife, Norma Miller. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nancy Hottenstine; and one brother, Walter Miller Jr.

A private family burial will be held. A gathering of family and friends is being planned for a later date.

Richard Synol

Richard Synol, 70, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home, while under the care of ThedaCare at Home Hospice, on Aug. 11, 2015.

Richard, also known as “Dickie,” “Dick,” “The Ole Buck” or “R.J.,” was born on Aug. 30, 1944, in Rib Lake, to the late Bernice and Walter Synol. He grew up in Rib Lake and graduated from Rib Lake High School. He joined the service during the Vietnam War and served his country honorably from 1964 to 1968. Upon returning home to Rib Lake, he married Sharon Shawano, of Laona. He worked at Gem Products in Rib Lake until it closed. After that, he moved to Green Bay in 1979. He then worked at the Larson Company in Green Bay for many years as a product sample truck driver. He later worked at Gandrud Chevrolet in vehicle prep until his retirement. He loved working on both real and model cars, watching the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR racing, hunting, horseshoes and bowling, but he loved nothing more than spending time with his family.

Richard had a kind heart and made friends wherever he went, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his two children, Audra Synol-Kruger (David Kruger), and Brandon Synol, both of Green Valley; five grandchildren, Keyyanna, Alex, Crystal, Jade and Allana; one great-granddaughter, Avah; his brother, Raymond (Kathleen) Synol; his former wife, Sharon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ken and Donovan.

A memorial visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home, Rib Lake Chapel, Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Graveside funeral prayers will be said by the Rev. Otto Bucher. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 517.
