Carole M. Alft

Carole M. Alft, 75, of rural Tigerton, passed away on Thursday morning, Dec. 18, 2014, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, after a lingering illness.

The former Carole Mae Brady was born on April 16, 1939, at Birnamwood Hospital, the daughter of Melvin and Margaret (Nero) Brady. She was united in marriage on June 7, 1958, to Keith R. Alft at St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Carole helped her husband on the farm for many years and later was employed at North Star Casino, and she worked for some time at Premier Community Bank. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wittenberg.

Carole enjoyed dancing, listening to polka music and working in her vegetable garden. Her other interests included taking care of her flower gardens, watching the birds, relaxing out in her gazebo, and completing all sorts of craft projects. Carole did a lot of canning, baking and cooking for her family. She will be remembered most as a devoted wife, a loving mother and a proud grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Keith, and four children, Keith (Debra) Alft Jr., of Tigerton, Kevin (Suzanne) Alft, of Katy, Texas, Kenneth (Lisa) Alft, of Eagle River, and Colleen (Kevin) Paiser, of Kewaunee. There is one daughter-in-law, Judi Alft, of Pella, Iowa. There are eight grandchildren, Kyle Alft, of Tigerton, Heather (Tad) Velte, of Marion, Mike (Miranda) Alft, of Des Moines, Iowa, Tiffany (Gavin) Crandall, of Pella, Iowa, Crystal (fiance, Adam Walter) Alft, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jake (Emily) Paiser, of Sturgeon Bay, Adam (Allyssa) Alft, of Neenah, and Abby Alft, of Eagle River. There are two great-grandchildren, Lara Paiser and Grant Crandall, and another great-grandchild on the way. There are three brothers, Jerry (Connie) Brady, of Green Bay, Wayne (Debbie) Brady, of Tilleda, and Dave (Faith) Gagnon, of Marion; one sister, Diane Herring, of Grant, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Ginger Brady and Barbara Brady; a brother-in-law, Jerome Alft; a special cousin, Diane Koepke; and many other relatives and friends.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Cheryl Lynn; and two brothers, Don and Buck Brady.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 701 S. Home St., Wittenberg. The Rev. Michael Larson will officiate, and burial will be at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Friends may call on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, and on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Keith A. Raasch

Keith A. Raasch, 71, of Gresham, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014.

Keith was born on Sept. 27, 1943, in Shawano, son of the late Walter and Margaret (Davids) Raasch. On Oct. 16, 1965, he was united in marriage to Mary Bauman in Gresham. Keith lived in the Gresham area all his life and was a truck driver for Schneider Transport of Green Bay, retiring after 30 years of service in 1999. After retirement, he worked for Shawano County for 7 1/2 years. Keith served in the United States Navy, was a member of the Mohican Veterans and the Gresham American Legion Post 390. He enjoyed fishing, flying his own plane and especially taking walks with his black lab, Maggie Mae.

Keith is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary; three children, Lori (Scott) Wendorff, of Gresham, Keith “Skeeter” (fiancee, Nicole) Raasch, of Two Rivers, and Teri “Missy” (Rod) Martin, of Gresham; five grandchildren, Michael, Danni, Autumn, Christopher and Kaci. Keith is further survived by one brother, David (Carole) Raasch, of Green Bay, Lillian (Pat) Bailey, of Bowler, Karolyn Raasch, of Shawano, and many relatives and friends.

Keith was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Ann, his parents, and one brother, Buddy. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Roland Golz officiating. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Dad always said, “When I die, I am going to return as an eagle … so I can fly and fish all day.”

Edith Krueger

On Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, Edith Krueger (Kring) departed from this world with a smile, in the presence of family, to join her Savior and family members who have preceded her in death: her husband, Frank Krueger Sr.; father, Thomas Kring; mother, Celia Kring; sisters, Myrtle Bloomquist and Alice Montour; brothers, Raymond Kring and Walter Lee Kring; in-laws, Frank A. Krueger and Otillie Krueger; son-in-law, Frank Jackson; and numerous extended family.

Edith was born in Knox Mills in 1929, settled down, and spent many years living in Neenah. Her sense of humor, spunk, and love will carry on through the memories of those who remain: her five children, Terry Jackson, Frank “Butch” (Sara) Krueger Jr., Kent Krueger, Wendy (Mike) Pagel and Mary (Dan) Timm; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Edith loved well, and she will be greatly missed until we are reunited in Eternal Life.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at Christus Lutheran Church, N1915 Julius Drive, Greenville, WI, gathering at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m. and luncheon to follow.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Bridgewood Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, and a special thanks to the staff from Hospice Advantage for their loving care.

Carole Lee Bierman

Carole Lee Bierman, 76, Bowler, died on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Shawano Medical Center.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1938, in Manitowoc, the daughter of the late Charles and Matilda (Cootway) Terrio.

On Oct. 3, 1959, Carole was united in marriage to LeRoy Bierman in Wittenberg. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2008.

Carole held various jobs in her early years, but her most cherished job was being the head cook for the Bowler School for over 19 years. Carole was a very crafty person, dabbling in too many crafts to mention. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and both flower and vegetable gardening. She was known for her outstanding baking, especially her cakes, making them for weddings, anniversaries and any other special occasions.

Survivors include two children, Faith (Dave) Gagnon, Pella, and Marcus (Diane) Bierman, White Pine, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Cassandra Bierman, Benjamin (Jennifer) Bierman, Marcus Bierman, John Tafelski, Paul Tafelski, Cody Gagnon, Jordan Gagnon and April Steinke; four great-grandchildren, Jaymin, Alaina, Olivia and Natalie; her siblings, Bill Terrio, Scottsdale, Arizona, Charles (Char) Terrio, Ringle, Norbert Martzahl, Aniwa, Judy (Robert) Herrmann, Elcho, and Connie (Laverne) Birkholz, Shawano.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Michael Schram will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, town of Almon. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg, and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Irvin Leroy Samp

Irvin “Irv” Leroy Samp, 92, of Shawano, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Shawano Medical Center, where he had been a patient for one week.

Irvin was born on Oct. 12, 1922, in the town of Waukechon, Shawano County, a son of the late John Theodore and Ivy Mae (Healy) Samp. He was united in marriage to Bernice (Berkhahn) on May 26, 1945, and the couple resided in Shawano. Irvin joined the Army in October 1945 and served in World War II with the field artillery in Germany. He was discharged in March 1947. Upon returning from the service, Irvin was employed at the Shawano Paper Mill for 38 years, retiring in October 1985. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Shawano.

Irv enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, bowling, woodworking, gardening, canning, making maple syrup, watching the Packers and the Brewers, spending time with his family, and spending time on his land on the Red River with his dog.

Irvin is survived by three daughters, Marlene (Stephen) Brath, of Shawano, Shelby (Patrick) Neitzel, of Neenah, Christine (John) Holtz of Shawano; one son, Dan (Wally Gay) Samp, of Port Charlotte, Florida; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, John “Jack” (Dorothy) Koeller, of Las Vegas; one brother-in-law, John “Butch” (Kathy) Berkhahn, of New London; one sister-in-law, Delores Roocks, of Appleton; many nieces and nephews; and his very special friend, Snarf, his dog.

Irv was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, on March 2, 1972; his parents; three brothers, Oliver, Earl and Leo; three sisters, Iva, Evangeline and Gladys; and special friend, Elaine Wallace.

Funeral services for Irvin Samp will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ. Pastor Marty Black will officiate. Private family interment will take place with military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at Peace United Church of Christ, Shawano, on Tuesday from 9:30-11 a.m.

Myrtle M. Feivor

Myrtle M. Feivor, 85, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at The Cottages, where she had been a resident for three years.

Myrtle was born on the family farm near Hill Point, Sauk County, on Dec. 13, 1929, the youngest child of the late Edward and Augusta (Schultz) Meyer. Myrtle graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1947. She met the love of her life, Frank Feivor, at a wedding dance in Loganville. The couple was married on June 1, 1949, and spent their honeymoon in San Francisco, one of Myrtle’s favorite cities.

Following their marriage, they lived in Reesdburg until 1954. At that time, Frank was promoted to district manager for American Family Insurance and they moved to Shawano. Frank preceded Myrtle in death on July 25, 2010. Myrtle was a gifted artist. She attended Layton School of Art in Milwaukee. Her seven children are blessed to have pictures their mom painted. Myrtle’s favorite subjects to paint were wildlife, such as birds and rabbits. She even wrote a children’s book about a squirrel. Myrtle loved nature!

Myrtle was an angel of a mother to her seven children: Renee Early, of Menasha, Kim (Barbara) Feivor, of Roanoke, Virginia, David (Julie) Feivor, of Gillett, Mark (Kitty) Feivor, of Appleton, Julie (Colin) Duff, of Lake Zurich, Illinois, Doug (Michele) Feivor, of Green Bay, and Nancy (James) Seckar, of Oshkosh. She was also the proud and loving grandmother of 20 grandchildren: Melissa, Michael (Jennifer) and Andrew Early, Daniel and Preston Feivor, Anthony (Nichole), Brianna (Leo) and Chase (Andrea) Feivor, Cory (Marco) and Amy Feivor, Jamieson, Flora and Callum Duff, Emily, Rachel, Conrad and Spencer Feivor, Lauren (Joe) Mason and Logan Seckar; and two great-grandsons, Sean Fitzpatrick and Henry Feivor. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Mae Vogel.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and one son-in-law, James Early.

Private family funeral services for Myrtle Feivor will take place on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano. Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Burial will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Myrtle’s name.

Matthew 6:26: Look at the birds in the sky. They do not store food for winter. They don’t plant gardens. They do not sow or reap-and yet, they are always fed because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are even more precious to Him than a beautiful bird. If He looks after them, of course He will look after you.

Shirley M. Koehler, 79, of Andover, Illinois, formerly of East Moline, passed away on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at her home.

Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, Illinois. Private family committal will be on Monday at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.

Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where she was a member, or to Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown, Wisconsin.

Shirley Peterman was born on Feb. 22, 1935, in Bonduel, the daughter of Herbert and Hertha (Boettcher) Peterman. She married Robert H. Koehler on April 30, 1955, in Bonduel. Shirley enjoyed reading and was a lifetime member of the Illini Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughter, Lori (Jeff) Fones, Galesburg, Illinois; son, Mark (Staci) Koehler, Sherrard, Illinois; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marjorie (Gordon) Ainsworth, Bonduel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Jeannie, Lois and Janice.

Lenore Marie Albers

Lenore Marie Albers, 87, of Keshena, died on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, in Keshena. She was born on Feb. 16, 1927, in Chicago to the late Arthur and Nell (Malloy) Lenzer.

Lenore attended St. Sylvester Grammar School and graduated from Providence High School. Lenore was united in marriage to Jack Henry Albers on June 26, 1948. They initially made their home in Elmwood Park, Illinois, before moving to Des Plaines, where they resided 40 years. In 1996, the couple made the transition to Keshena, which they now call home.

Lenore was a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, the Ladies’ Sodality, ACCW and also a former Girl Scout leader.

Lenore is survived by her husband, Jack; five children, Michael Albers, Marianne McKoveck, Nancianne Jensen, Suzanne Priore and James Albers. She also has 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena with the Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem, officiating. Visitation was held at the Father Dave Barrett Hall on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services. Inurnment will be in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring.

Marvin L. Murphy

Marvin L. Murphy, 87, of Cecil passed away on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014.

Marvin was born on Aug. 17, 1927, to the late John and Dorothy (Thill) Murphy in Campbellsport. He married Gertie Allen. She preceded him in death. On Sept. 9, 2000, he married Patricia Ann (Krueger) Bahr. Marvin served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army. He worked for Knuth Construction Company in Milwaukee as a mason until he retired in 1990. He was a very active member of Cecil American Legion Post 392 and a member of the 40 ET 8 of Shawano.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years, Patricia Murphy, of Cecil; five stepchildren, Steve (Kathy) Bahr, Cecil, Brenda (John) Schuelke, Appleton, Debra (Robert) Lohrentz, Clintonville, Jim (Dawn) Bahr, Shawano, Kevin (Sheila) Bahr, Cecil; 11 grandchildren, Heather VanKooy, Brian Bahr, Josh (Tricia) Marohl, Katie (Neil) Crider, Brooke (Billy) Calkins, Briana Buss, Logan Bahr (special friend, Stacey), Emilee (Cory) Retzlaff, Samantha Bahr, Rachel Bahr, Justin Bahr; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Bev (Ray) Jaeger, of South Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Sally Murphy, Gillett, Marie Murphy, Milwaukee, and Agnes Raught, of Washington; seven nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gertie; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Jean Marohl; an infant brother and brothers, John and Dick Murphy; a nephew, David Raught.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Gillett with the Rev. Dean Dombroski and Sister Marla Clercx officiating.

Family and friends called on Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Military rites were held by Cecil American Legion Post 392 and the Gillett American Legion Post 300. Entombment was at Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Shawano.

Martin Robert Schmidt

Martin Robert Schmidt, 88, of Shawano, died on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014. He was born on Feb. 1, 1926, in Antigo, to the late Herman and Mary (Smith) Schmidt.

Martin enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during World War II. He was united in marriage to Joy Now, Patricia Curin and Clara June Mauk, who all preceded him in death.

Martin is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Billy) McGinnis, of New Mexico; his son, Steven (Sharon) Schmidt, of New Mexico; seven stepchildren, Mike (Wendy) Messenger, Meri Noel, Jennifer (Terry) Barr, Cindy Thomas, Jim, Jeff and Jonita Downing; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bernadine (Robert) Traeger, of Gresham, and Margaret Nelson, of Manitowoc.

Martin was preceded in death by three wives, Joy (Now) Schmidt, Patricia (Curin) Schmidt and Clara June (Mauk) Schmidt; his parents; a brother, Leonard Schmidt; and a grandson, Kevin Worrall.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Military rites will be conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post 117 following the service at the funeral home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Church on the Hill Cemetery in Elton.

Vernon Pelkey

Vernon “Vern” Pelkey, 57, of rural Marion, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at ThedaCare Medical Center, New London.

Vernon Lee Pelkey was born on March 11, 1957, in New London to Israel and Shirley (Dewherhurst) Pelkey. Vern was united in marriage to Patricia A. Smith on Dec. 15, 2000. After working for Frontier Communications (formerly Urban Telephone) of Clintonville for 36 years, he was forced to retire in 2013 due to his health. Then Vern focused on spending his time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and foster children.

Vernon was a loving, caring person who would do anything for anyone. His passion was for camping, campfires and fishing. Vern enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, beer steins and vintage telephones. He liked plowing snow, listening to his police scanners, and spending time with relatives making brunch and cook outs. Vern also liked to watch the Packers game from his favorite recliner.

Vern and Pat opened their hearts and home to several foster children over the past few years. Although they might not have a lot of money, they had a lot of love to give. The couple made a positive impact on many people’s lives, especially children. Vern couldn’t have been happier than when he was sharing an afternoon dinner with his family and all the children who made their way into his life.

Survivors include his wife, Pat, and four children, Christopher Pelkey, of Marion, Michelle (Mathew) Anker, of Marion, Tonya (friend Joseph Murray) Christianson-Van Den Bloomer, of Clintonville, and Ted (JoAnne) Christianson, of Clintonville. There is an adopted daughter, Lexus Pelkey; a stepdaughter, Jamie (Brad) Schneidewend; and his mother, Shirley Pelkey. There are nine grandchildren, Sonya Christianson, Ashley Anker, Sidney Kurrasch, Cole Christianson, Alyssa Schneidewend, Dakota Anker, Tyler “Skipper” Christianson, Skylar Schneidewend and Gabe Christianson. There is one great-granddaughter, Anastasia Anker, and two brothers, Donald (Arlene) Pelkey, of Greenville, and Patrick (Sharon) Pelkey, of New London. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Vern was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, a granddaughter, Sereena Gollnow, sister-in-law, Barbara (James) Gollnow, and a brother-in-law, Jeffery (Karen) Smith.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, with Deacon Lincoln Wood officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. A luncheon will be held after the service and, in honor of Vern, please bring your favorite dish to pass.

The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff at ThedaCare Medical Center, New London, especially Dr. Steven Goedderz for the compassionate care given to Vern.

Cecelia Mae Zhuckkahosee

Cecelia Mae Zhuckkahosee, 55, of Keshena, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014. She was born on Nov. 17, 1959, to the late Allen and Agnes Christine (Warrington) Heath.

She graduated from Menominee High School with the Class of 1978. Cecelia Heath married Lee Zhuckkahosee at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit on Sept. 26, 1981. She was a longtime employee of the Menominee Loan Fund. Cecelia enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to play Bingo, watch the Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Vikings, and spend time back home in South Branch. Cecelia was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit.

Cecelia is survived by her husband, Lee, of Keshena; three children, Lee Zhuckkahosee Jr., of Keshena, Terri Zhuckkahosee, of Keshena, and Andrew Zhuckkahosee, of Bowler; three sisters, Janice (Phillip) Reed, of Keshena, Margaret (Wendall) Cornelius, of Oneida, and Linda Heath, of Shawano; three brothers, William (Carol) Heath, of Shawano, Dennis Heath, of Shawano, and Steven Heath, of Wausau; six grandchildren, Robert, Tate, Alexis, Aaliyah, Abbagehl and Seqouia. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Rhama Heath, Marilyn Heath, Janet Warrington, Joyce Kenote and Marie Heath; five brothers, Robert Heath, Bernard Heath, Russell Heath, Marvin Heath and Statton Heath.

Visitation will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, from 12 p.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11 a.m. There will also be a prayer service Sunday at 7 p.m. Cecelia will be interred in St. Joseph of the Lake Catholic Cemetery in spring. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family.

Laurel M. Rothwell, 91, of Shawano, died on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, in Shawano.

Laurel was born on Feb. 6, 1923, in the town of Herman, Shawano County, the daughter of Otto and Ida (Marquardt) Waegli. She graduated from Shawano High School and Carroll College. In 1946, she was united in marriage to H. Gordon Rothwell, who preceded her in death. Laurel was the Worthy Matron O.E.S. in Shawano in 1955. Laurel moved to Fond du Lac in 1961, returning to Shawano in 2007. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Fond du Lac. Laurel was a teacher, gardener, fiber arts artist and a full-time mother to her three children.

Laurel is survived by her three children, Bret (Cheryl) Rothwell, Laurie Roberts and Lisa Rothwell; and seven grandchildren, Brett Rothwell, Paul Rothwell, Allison Rothwell, Paul Roberts, Mark Roberts, Matt Roberts and Ian O’Loughlin. She is further survived by seven great-grandchildren.

Laurel was preceded in death by her husband, H. Gordon, her parents, one brother and three sisters. A private family service will be held with the Rev. Loretta Waegli officiating.

Rose Marie Goodwill

Rose Marie (nee Turney) Goodwill, 76, of Shawano, died on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, in Green Bay.

Rose was born on Feb. 14, 1938, in Keshena. She meet Robert “Goody” Goodwill in a laundry mat, and they were married in 1987 in Milwaukee. She was a nurse’s aide in Texas and Milwaukee and lived in Shawano for the past 15 years. Rose was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit. She enjoyed doing ceramics and making jewelry.

Rose is survived by her husband of 27 years, Goody; seven children, Joy Allen, Mary Lou Kosidowski, Robert Brunke, Penny Brunke, Damon Brunke, Denise Konkel and Joey Brunke; and numerous grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. David McElroy, O.Praem, officiating and burial in the church cemetery in spring. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. and after 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home until the procession leaves for the church.

Michael Kenneth John

Michael Kenneth John died unexpectedly of a heart attack Dec. 20 early in the morning. Due to medical reasons, Michael was staying with his parents, Ken and Donna John, who live on Shawano Lake.

Michael was a gifted machinist who worked both in Milwaukee and Seattle, Washington. He and his wife, Susan, lived in Milwaukee, but he enjoyed spending time fishing on Shawano Lake and was here all summer.

He will be buried in a Milwaukee cemetery, and Swedberg Funeral Home is helping to move him there.

Survivors include his wife, Sue (Capuano); parents, Ken and Donna (Bigelow) John; and sister, Valerie (Tom) Miller.

The family will receive friends at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa, on Monday, Dec. 29, from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Dawn M. Sosa

Dawn M. Sosa, 49, passed away on Dec. 24, 2014.

Dawn was born June 3, 1965, in Milwaukee to Lorraine Thom.

Dawn was smart, talented, creative and funny. She loved to bead and cake decorate.

Dawn is survived by her daughters, Leah, Maria, Jessica, Angelica, Rosa, Nicole, CJ, and son, Alex. Dawn is further survived by her mother, Lorraine Thom, and grandmother, Elaine Berka; her sisters, Charlotte Menore, Yvonne Pyawasay, Sharon Fredericks and Tammy Thom. Dawn had 15 grandchildren; three sons-in-law, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dawn was preceded in death by her daughter, Marisol, and her grandchildren, Nayeli, Alexis and Adrian.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at St. Michael’s Church with the Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem, officiating. A visitation was held from noon until the time of the service.

Terry J. Birkholz

Terry J. Birkholz, 71, of the town of Hartland, Bonduel, died on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, in Shawano.

Terry was born on Jan. 22, 1943, in West Bend, the son of the late Alvin and Maryann (Schweitzer) Birkholz. On Nov. 24, 1962, Terry was united in marriage to Karen Habeck in the town of Richmond. Terry lived in the Shawano area all his life and worked at F.W.D. in Clintonville before taking over the family farm in 1975, and worked at the Vlasic pickle factory in Bonduel. He was a member of the St. James Church in Shawano and enjoyed hunting, watching wrestling, going to the races and riding on roller coasters.

Terry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen; three children, Dan Birkholz, of Bonduel, Lori (Mark) Beilfuss, of Cecil, Jon (Prudence) Birkholz, of Hatley; six grandchildren, Craig, Stacy, Rechel, Zachary, Megan and Brock. He is further survived by his sisters and brothers, Shirley Buswell, Alice Gerhke, David (Diane) Olson and Alex Olson.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Ted Andrada officiating. Visitation was held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. and will be held at the church on Wednesday after 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Jeremiah Heath Rockman was born and died on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, in Milwaukee. Jeremiah was the son of Cierra Bernarde and Derrick Rockman.
