
Richard Synol, 70, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home, while under the care of ThedaCare at Home Hospice, on Aug. 11, 2015.
Richard, also known as “Dickie,” “Dick,” “The Ole Buck” or “R.J.,” was born on Aug. 30, 1944, in Rib Lake, to the late Bernice and Walter Synol. He grew up in Rib Lake and graduated from Rib Lake High School. He joined the service during the Vietnam War and served his country honorably from 1964 to 1968. Upon returning home to Rib Lake, he married Sharon Shawano, of Laona. He worked at Gem Products in Rib Lake until it closed. After that, he moved to Green Bay in 1979. He then worked at the Larson Company in Green Bay for many years as a product sample truck driver. He later worked at Gandrud Chevrolet in vehicle prep until his retirement. He loved working on both real and model cars, watching the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR racing, hunting, horseshoes and bowling, but he loved nothing more than spending time with his family.
Richard had a kind heart and made friends wherever he went, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his two children, Audra Synol-Kruger (David Kruger), and Brandon Synol, both of Green Valley; five grandchildren, Keyyanna, Alex, Crystal, Jade and Allana; one great-granddaughter, Avah; his brother, Raymond (Kathleen) Synol; his former wife, Sharon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ken and Donovan.
A memorial visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home, Rib Lake Chapel, Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Graveside funeral prayers will be said by the Rev. Otto Bucher. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 517.
