Duane W. Conrad, 70, of Shawano, passed away on Aug. 15, 2015. He was born on Oct, 23, 1944, to William and Viola (Beilke) Conrad.
Duane lived in Shawano most of his life except when he was serving in the Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and received the Shawano Volunteer of the Year award. Duane was also past commander and a member of the Shawano American Legion Post 117 and Shawano D.A.V., Shawano County Voiture 986 40et8, served on the committee to advise Toby Roth on a veterans outreach clinic in Appleton, assisted in the formation of the support group for Desert Storm vets and was instrumental in forming the Vietnam veterans group in the county.
Duane is survived by several cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Swedberg Funeral Home, Shawano, with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday Aug. 20, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and again from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Bowler, with military rites by Shawano American Legion Post 117.
