
Jeanne L. Braun, 68, Oconto Falls, died suddenly of natural causes Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 4, 2015, while working with her husband in their yard. The older of two daughters born to Merton and Myrtle (Runge) Wagner was born July 26, 1947, in Milwaukee. As a child, she moved with her family to Gillett, where she grew up and attended public schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1965. Following graduation, she began working for Country Gardens.
On Feb. 12, 1966, she married her high school sweetheart, Gary Braun, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Waukesha, Menomonie and Wausaukee because of Gary’s schooling and guidance counseling career. Jeanne remained with her original employer during this time, driving back to the area each canning season. The couple and their young family moved to Oconto Falls in 1977, and Jeanne continued working until 2013, when she retired from Seneca Foods. She was a long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett, where she served on church council and participated in many church activities. Jeanne will be fondly remembered for the love shown to her family, including their dogs and her beautiful flower gardens.
Survivors are her loving husband of 49 years, Gary Braun, Oconto Falls; their four children, Marc (Karen) Braun, Shawano, Stacy (Brett) Lucht, Wausau, Gina (David) Neumann, Madison, Greg Braun, Oconto Falls; six grandchildren who she adored, Abigail, Ethan and Evan Braun, Natalie, Lindsey and Emily Lucht; one brother-in-law, Dan Larson, Superior; special niece, Carly (Ty) Botten, Superior; her mother-in-law, Mary Braun, Gillett; four sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Harvey) Fifield, Cheryl (Ken) Kohn, both of Cecil, Karla (Jim) Holl, Larsen, Lori (Scott) Kroll, Corpus Christi, Texas; many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, her only sister, Sue Larson, a special aunt Lucille Coffey and father-in-law Raymond Braun.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Visitation will continue at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett after 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, until time of service. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Harvey Jeffers officiating. Cremation will follow.
