Paula J. Zahn

Paula J. Zahn, 76, of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the Shawano Medical Center with her family by her side.

Paula was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Shawano, a daughter of the late Fred and Helen (Kallies) Moesch. She attended St. James School in Shawano. On June 9, 1956, she was united in marriage to Carl Zahn at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed near Pella. Paula spent her life on the farm, helping Carl and raising her children. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Shawano. Paula is a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano. Her family was very important to her. She liked gardening, cooking, shopping and an occasional trip to the casino.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Carl Zahn Sr., of Shawano; her children, Carl (Sue) Zahn Jr., of Clintonville, Doug (Rosie Kelley), of Shawano, Paul (Priscilla) Zahn, of Shawano, Laurie (Ron) Hepp, of Clintonville, Julie (Bob) Aschenbrenner, of Leopolis, Stacy (Bob Adams) Zimmerman, of Pella, Amy (Tom) Stefl, of Shawano, and Beth (Jason) Koenig, of Shawano. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Angie (Scott), Carl (Yolanda), Nathan (Kristin), Samantha (Perry), Courtney (Sean), Ian, Katie (Jamie), Mike (Tiffany), Danielle (Shawn), Emilie, David, Erin, Bridget, Nicholas, Trista (John Jr.), Nicole (Al), Jacob (Heather), Zachary (Mackenzie), Ryder (Hannah), Logan, Carly, Gabrielle, Sofia and Jack; her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Zoey, Aiden, Sawyer, Cyndal, Cody, Brynn, and Payton; her sister, Eldora Engelhardt, of Pella; her sister-in-law, Violet Babik, of Hancock; and many nieces and nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by two sons, David Zahn, in 1990, and Mark Zahn, in 2005, and an infant great-grandson, Lincoln, in 2015. Funeral services for Paula J. Zahn will take place Monday, June 29, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Interment will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano on Sunday, June 28, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorials in her name for St. James Lutheran School, Shawano.

Mickelson Funeral & Cremation Service of Shawano is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family thanks Dr. Qualheim for her care over the years and her appreciation of Mother’s sense of humor. They are also thankful for the staff at ManorCare, Shawano Medical Center and ThedaCare Hospice. Paula was a great wife and mother. She will be deeply missed.
