Cynthia G. Lasch, 67, of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano, passed away on Jan. 16, 2014, from injuries received in a vehicle accident in Salt Lake City, Utah, and joined her Heavenly Father in the Celestial Kingdom.

Cynthia was born in Lewiston, Idaho, on June 16, 1946, to Eris and Stanley Elam. She was married to Gene C. Lasch in Grangeville, Idaho, on June 12, 1965. A son, Aaron, was born on March 5, 1966, and a daughter, Bonnie, was born on Aug. 7, 1969.

Cynthia’s deep belief in God and the church has always been a sustaining virtue in her life. For many years, Cynthia has been crocheting altar cloths, totaling in the hundreds, for the Mormon temples in the church all over the world. Her life has been filled with high adventures with travel all over the U.S., Canada and around the world. Cynthia had a special talent for knitting, crocheting, realistic bird wood-carving, painting, woodworking and was a published author. Baking, another special talent, was always appreciated by her husband, children, family and friends.

By heavy prayer, she conquered her fears and enjoyed horseback riding off into the sunset with her husband on their ranch in northern Minnesota. Hot air ballooning in Seymour was another challenging accomplishment, along with hang gliding in southern Wisconsin. Trout fishing in Idaho, Montana and Alaska, as well as family camping, was always a very special time when the children were growing up. High adventures in Maui, Hawaii, the last 16 years, watching the whales at sunset and conversing with old friends and new at Sunset Wall were very special times in her life.

“Grammy” was her special name from her grandkids.

Even though Cyndy’s spirit has left this earth, she continues to enrich the lives of others through her caring and generous gift of organ donation.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her brother, Shannon Elam, and her father, Stanley Elam.

Surviving are her family: Gene, her husband of 48-plus years; her son, Aaron, and his wife, Mary, and his son, Brandon; her daughter, Bonnie Arms, and children, Christina and Jimmy; mother, Eris Elam; sister, Kate MacEachern; brothers, Dale Elam, Terry Elam and his wife, Pam, Barry Elam and his wife, Michelle. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and condolences.

Funeral services for Cynthia Lasch will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 910 E. Zingler Ave., Shawano, on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. Bishop Brett Hoffman will officiate. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. A luncheon will follow the committal prayers back at the church. Relatives and friends may gather at the church after 1 p.m. Wednesday until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family suggests donations be sent to support local LDS Church charities. Checks can be made payable to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and sent to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, c/o Bishop Hoffman, 910 E. Zingler Ave., Shawano, WI 54166.
