
Diane R. Kast, 72, of Shawano, passed away peacefully late Saturday evening, Dec. 28, 2013, at her home, following a lengthy illness. Diane was born in July 1941 in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Daniel G. and Ruth (Steffen) Meyer.
She attended school in Milwaukee, and following graduation from high school, she was employed at Marquette University in the Welcome Center. On Feb. 8, 1964, she was united in marriage to Michael Kast at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. The couple lived in Shawano their entire married life.
Diane had been employed at the Kids Klub at the Shawano Presbyterian Church for several years, a job she truly loved. Diane had to stop working at the Kids Klub to care for her aging mother. Diane was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. She enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, water skiing and being outside with her family. She was especially fond of all of her grandchildren. Diane will truly be remembered as the ultimate caregiver.
Diane is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Mike Kast, of Shawano; three sons, James Kast, Jon Kast (special friend, Dawn) and J.D. (Mary) Kast, all of Shawano; seven grandchildren; five grandchildren; and three brothers, John (Barbara) Meyer, of Cedarburg, Tim (Susan) Blott, of Kodiak, Alaska, and Dan (Jeanine) Blott, of Seattle, Wash. Diane is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
Private family services for Diane Kast have been held. Inurnment will be in the spring at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano.
The family has requested that if you choose to memorialize Diane Kast, donations may be made in her name to St. James Lutheran Church Radio Broadcast.
