Steven A. Steinbach Sr.

Steven A. Steinbach Sr., 62, of Shawano, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, July 6, 2014, at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay, with his loving family by his side.

Steve was born on May 27, 1952, in Antigo, a son of the late Chester and Marilyn (Goodwill) Steinbach. As a young child, his family moved to Hartford, where Steve attended school, graduating from Hartford High School in 1970. Following school, Steve took a job with the R.E. Beaudoin and Sons Concrete Company in Menomonee Falls.

On Oct. 14, 1972, he was united in marriage to the former Linda Schoenfeld at the Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano.

Following their marriage the couple lived in Hartland for several years. Steve was a concrete finisher and, due to the nature of his work, he along with his family lived in various places in the Hartford area. The family ultimately returned to the Shawano area in 1979.

Steve is a member of Peace UCC in Shawano. In his younger days, Steve was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. He loved to camp with his family. He loved to tinker and build things.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Steinbach, of Shawano; four children, Tanya Ratliff, of Iron Mountain, Michigan, Jolene Steinbach, of Appleton, and Steven A. ”Pete” Steinbach Jr. and Sarah (special friend Andrew Ebbinger) Steinbach, both of Shawano; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is further survived by his three brothers, Jay Steinbach, of Fox Lake, Paul (Sharon) Steinbach, of Hartford, and Michael (Lucia) Steinbach of Martinsburg, West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Damian Ratliff.

A celebration of the life of Steve Steinbach will be held on Saturday, July 12, at 12 p.m. at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. Pastor Marty Black will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service after 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorials in his name.
