Dorothy Viola Hottenstine

Dorothy Viola Hottenstine, 89, died peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2014, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna with her family at her side.

Dorothy was born on April 25, 1925, in Shawano, to the late Henry and Rose (Tischauser) Salzman.

She was united in marriage on Feb, 23, 1946, to A. J. Hottenstine. Dorothy was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church of Appleton. She loved to embroider and read books, and loved to take and share pictures of family and friends. Dorothy also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Most important to her was caring for her family’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the time spent with her husband. She also assisted her husband, Al, with the Greenville Stars baseball team.

Dorothy is lovingly survived by her six children, Wayne (Dawn) and their children, Chris (Jennifer) Hottenstine; Al (Betty) and their children, Kelly (John) McCord and Matthew Hottenstine; Kathy Hottenstine, and her children, Jason, Tara (fiance Derek) and Matthew (Amber) Mulroy; Linda (Ken) Greely, and their children, Amanda and Steven Wynboom and Erika Greely; Rick (Tammy) and their children, Kimberly and Derrick Hottenstine; Debra (Dave) Robinson and their children, Samantha (Fred), Jaclyn (Lucas), Jesse and Riley Robinson; seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, Elliott, Kendra, Jade, Hannah and Elijah; and a sister, Evelyn Herms.

She was receded in death by her husband, Al, a grandson, Terry Hottenstine, and 10 siblings.

The funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N. Oneida St., Appleton, with the Rev. Brian Bankert officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Hortonville, on Thursday at 10 a.m. Dorothy’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

A memorial fund is being established.

Dorothy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St Paul Home and St. Paul Hospice for the wonderful care of Dorothy and her family.
