Linda S. Caldwell

Linda Sue Caldwell, 62, of Neopit, walked on after a short illness, on June 6, 2014.

Linda was born on June 26, 1951, in Keshena to the late Alexander “Askie” and Sue (John) Askenette. She was united in marriage to Eugene Joseph Caldwell on Feb. 3, 1973. Linda was employed by Menominee Tribal Enterprises for 35 years, first working as the secretary for forestry and later as an accounting clerk until the time of her illness. She also served one term as a member of the MTE board of directors.

Linda graduated from Shawano High School and later received an associate degree in business from the College of the Menominee Nation. She was actively engaged in community activities with her husband, Gene. They both helped create the Building Better Communities organization in Neopit. Linda was a board member for the Neopit Woodland Youth Boys and Girls Club and served as a president of the Kateri Circle at St. Anthony’s Parish. In her free time, she loved rooting for the Packers and Badgers, watching the “Golden Girls” and, most of all, spending time with family at the Askenette lake lot and many other family functions.

Linda is survived by her her husband, Eugene; two sons, Christopher (Toni) Caldwell, of Keshena, and Jeremy Caldwell, of Neopit; a daughter, Charlotte (Mike) Caldwell-Aubid, of Minnesota; six grandchildren, Brooke Erin Caldwell, Trinaty Marie Caldwell, Jordan Buffalo, Charlotte “Noni” Caldwell, Julius Aubid and Animikence Aubid; six brothers and sisters, Donald Askenette, of Milwaukee, Wendell “Sim” (Sue) Askenette, of Keshena, Orin “Louie” Askenette, of Green Bay, Barbara Askenette, of Neopit, Patricia “Patsy” (Jerry) Chapman, of Keshena, and David “Peco” Askenette, of Neopit; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alexander Askenette Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Darnell (Besaw) Askenette.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 9, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem, officiating. Visitation was held at the Neopit Community Center.

Swedberg Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
