
Corey F. Krueger, 46, of Shawano, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on Monday afternoon, May 26, 2014, after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Corey was born Oct. 25, 1967, in Shawano, a son of Fred and Sue (Corey) Krueger.
He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School and later graduated from Shawano High School with the Class of 1986. Following high school, he attended Central Wisconsin Technical College in Wausau.
Corey was employed at Bellin Sports Medicine and later at the Menominee Bingo and Casino Resort, where he was employed at the time of his death.
On July 17, 1999, Corey was united in marriage to the former Melody Nelson at Centerville, S.D. The couple has lived in Shawano since their marriage.
Corey was a good and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and taking his annual fishing trip to South Dakota with his family members. He was an exceptional father, who was involved with the day-to-day lives of his loving children. He enjoyed attending all of their sporting events. He was a fan of the Badgers, Packers and Brewers and was an avid reader. He was an active member of the A to Z Investment Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melody, of Shawano; three children, James, Emma and Erin Krueger, all at home; parents, Fred and Sue Krueger, of Shawano; two brothers, Rick (Karen Lynn) Krueger, of Bayside, and Hans (Julie) Krueger, of Lodi; one sister, Karen Sue (Jon) Slaght, of Minneapolis; his mother- and father in-law, Norman (Anna Mae) Nelson, of Centerville, S.D.; three brothers-in-law, Jim Nelson, of Beresford, S.D., Jeff (Janice) Nelson ,of Centerville, S.D., and Don (Rachel) Nelson, of Medford. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral Mass for Corey will be celebrated on Saturday, May 31, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawano. The Rev. Luke Ferris will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano on Friday, May 30, from 4-7 p.m. and at the gymnasium of Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. A parish wake service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorials in his name to establish a trust fund for his children.
