Janice E. Jones, 81, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at a local nursing home surrounded by her family. Born on May 11, 1932 in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late George and Marie (Giesel) Schwietzer.
On July 14, 1951, Janice was united in marriage to Howard Jones at the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. The couple made their home and raised their family in the Shawano area, where Janice worked for Ben’s Dry Cleaning. She also worked for the Shawano School District. When not at work, Janice enjoyed going for walks, reading, and watching golf, baseball and other programs on television. She also enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers and camping up north, but her true enjoyment in life came from spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Janice was an active member of the River Valley Church in Shawano, formerly known as the Shawano Assembly of God Church.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Gail (Dale) Sauer; two sons, Jeff (Vicky) Jones, Joe (Ronda) Jones; nine grandchildren, Lisa Sauer, Amy Sauer, Cody Sauer, Jesse Jones, Corey (special friend, Kyla Hischke) Jones, Katie Jo Jones, Dylan Jones, Cassie (Dean) Cummings, Callie Galland; seven great-grandchildren, Devann, Ryan, Reese, Sadie, Carson, Cierra, Chloeana; and a great great-grandchild, Baily Rae. Janice is further survived by several sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, on Dec. 14, 2002, her parents and eight siblings.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Lake Drive Cemetery in the town of Wescott with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the River Valley Church in Shawano.
