Dorothy J. Bartelt, 85, of Gaylord, Mich., died March 9, 2014, at her home. She was born on Sept. 25, 1928, to Arnold and Nell (Meekma) Christensen in Racine.
On Dec. 14, 1946, Dorothy married Lt. Col. Stanley E. Bartelt, who preceded her in death in 2005. A proud wife of an Air Force lieutenant colonel, Dorothy raised her three children. She enjoyed doing any type of craft and even went to art school before marrying Stanley.
She is survived by her children, William, of Gaylord, Steven (Robin), of Orlando, Fla., Suzan (Bill) Morey, of Gaylord; grandchildren, Rob, Corey, Stacy, Scott; great-grandchildren, Frankie, Lorelai, Jordan, Stanley, Johnathan, Aiden and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her brother, Bill Christensen.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, from 5-8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 135 N. Center Ave. Gaylord, Mich. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Woodlawn Cemetery.
