Cheryl L. Kohlin, 58, of Shawano, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Shawano Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.
Cheryl was born Nov. 22, 1955, in Shawano, a daughter of LeRoy “Skeeter” Beauprey and the late Gloria (Krause) Beauprey. She attended school in Lomira and was a graduate of Lomira High School. Following high school she was employed as a shift manager at Frigo Cheese in Lena for over 10 years. Cheryl later worked at Chaimson’s and J.C. Penney in Shawano, as well as waitressed at various restaurants in the Shawano area.
On Oct. 8, 1993, she was united in marriage to Stu Kohlin at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. The couple lived in Shawano since their marriage. Cheryl was most happy when decorating for the seasons, holidays and other festivities, when she was with friends and family celebrating on the pontoon on Shawano Lake, and shopping for trinkets and gifts. Her assertive nature was known by others as a source of distinction and durability. Cheryl was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Shawano. She also always made the time spent with her granddaughter very special and memorable.
Cheryl leaves her loving husband of 21 years, Stu Kohlin, of Shawano; a daughter, Nikki Beauprey, of Green Bay; one granddaughter, Jayda Clark; and her father, Skeeter Beauprey, a resident of Birch Hill Care Center. She is further survived by three sisters, Pam (Scott) Forslund, Valerie Beauprey and Wendy Beauprey, all living out West; two brothers, Len and Stan Beauprey, both living out West; many nieces, nephews, beloved friends and other family members too many to list or even count.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Irene Krause Zoglman; her mother, Gloria; an infant daughter, Cassi Kendra Kohlin; and her father-in-law, Bob Kohlin.
A memorial service for Cheryl Kohlin will be held on Wednesday, March 12, at 6 p.m. at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. James Lonick, lay minister of prayer, will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service after 4 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually – through prayer and/or visits, neighbors and even random acts of kindness through total strangers.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorials for St. Jude Children’s Hospital in the name of Cheryl Kohlin.
