
Constance M. “Connie” Goetz, 90, of Keshena, passed away on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 1, 2015, at the Wolf River CBRF, where she had been a resident for the past six years.
Connie was born on May 27, 1925, in Keshena, a daughter of the late Henry M. and Josephine (Wishecoby) Dodge. She attended St. Joseph Mission School on the reservation until 10th grade, later graduating from Shawano High School. Following graduation, she entered the Naval Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. After the war, Connie married John Goetz in Chicago in January 1951. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Santa Monica, California. John preceded her in death.
Connie earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Mary’s College in San Francisco in July 979. She was employed at a plastic surgeon’s office her entire nursing career. Connie then decided to change careers and worked for the military at the Presidium in San Francisco as a computer expert. She was later transferred to Great Lakes Naval Station in Illinois. Connie retired in September 1993 at which time she returned to Keshena.
Survivors of Constance Goetz include two brothers, Sidney Dodge, of Denver, Colorado, and Dick (Sibby) Dodge, of Keshena; four sisters, Carol Dodge, Glenda Tahmahkera, Faye (Tony) Waupechick and Kathleen (James) Kaquatosh, all of Keshena; a close cousin, Richard R. (Paula) Dodge, of Keshena; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Josephine Duquain; two brothers, Melvin Dodge and Roger Dodge; her stepbrother, Arthur Chapman; two sisters, Gwen Washinwatok and Sandra King, and two sisters in infancy.
According to her wishes, a private family service will be held. Committal will take place in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Keshena.
