
Allen D. Montour, 80, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, Oct. 12, 2015, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano.
Allen was born on June 17, 1935, in Shawano, a son of the late Joseph and Doris (Monroe) Montour Richards. He attended the Shawano schools, graduating from Shawano High School. On Oct. 13, 1952, Allen entered the United States Navy. He served his country during the Korean War until June 11, 1956. He and his brother, Don, were both assigned to the USS Marshall.
Upon returning from service, Allen lived in the town of Wescott area. He was united in marriage to the former Frances Wilbur, who preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 2001. He worked for many years with the Teamsters Union and Local 127. Allen was an avid Packers fan and outdoorsman who enjoyed trout fishing. Allen was a longtime member of the Shawano Fish and Game Club.
Survivors include his sister, Nina (Gary) Kunschke, of Shawano; his sister-in-law, Shirley Montour, of Appleton; his brother-in-law, Lester Schreiber, of Shawano; two very special cousins, Kenneth and Catherine Monroe, of LeFlore, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marjorie Schreiber; his brother, Don Montour; and two brothers in infancy.
Funeral services for Allen will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Mickelson Funeral & Cremation Service of Shawano. Pastor Marty Black will officiate. Interment will take place in the Lake Drive Cemetery, town of Wescott. Full military honors will be conducted by Shawano American Legion Post 117. Relatives and friends may call at Mickelson Funeral Service on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
