Lawrence Robert Klapper, 85, of Cecil, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at Shawano Medical Center with family members at his side.
Lawrence was born on Nov. 15, 1929, in the family farmhouse in the Township of Green Valley to the late Leonard and Hattie (Schuettpelz) Klapper. On Sept. 5, 1959, Lawrence was united in marriage to Jean Ellen Brecken, and they were blessed to have recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Together they continued the Klapper farm legacy by owning and operating North Ridge Dairy Farm near Cecil.
Lawrence was a stellar example of unconditional love for his family. A farmer all his life, he happened to be born into the profession he loved most. He was an honest, hard-working gentleman who rarely complained. He participated in his church dartball league for over 60 years, and enjoyed “Card Club” with the same eight couples his whole married life.
Lawrence loved the outdoors, dogs, hunting, corn flakes, and toast buttered to the edge. He was a man of few words — but those words were often witty or profound.
The sadness we feel is overcome by fond memories and faith that the best is yet to come.
