On April 1, 2014, Frances A. Casetta left her home to be with her Lord and Savior and her beloved Johnnie. She was born on Aug. 21, 1921, in Eden, the daughter of the late Francis and Matilda (Meyer) Hefling.

On June 10, 1946, Frances was united in marriage to John P. Casetta Jr. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2010. Besides farming, helping John run the refrigeration business and tree farm, and raising four boys, she was active in the American Legion Post 414 Auxiliary, for which she was president. She was very devoted to the Christian Mothers of Holy Family-St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. She held the role as president and was instrumental in the creation of the annual deer hunters dinner.

Frances was the coach for the Almon Little League team. She enjoyed getting together with the neighbors to make quilts, have card parties and help make food for showers at Shadyview. She was a very active bowler, leading the Casetta’s Refrigeration team to two championships and participated in many tournaments. Later, Frances learned to pick up the golf clubs, and she and John enjoyed many days at Maple Hills Golf Course, Wittenberg. In the fall, she would be very busy canning and freezing from the summers harvest.

Beyond all, she loved to cook, and if you were to visit, you would not leave the house until you were full. Besides John and her children, the highlight was to have the grandchildren and great-grandchildren come and visit, and oh yes, food would be plentiful.

Survivors include her children, John “Jack” (Marilyn) Casetta, Germantown, Glen (Adeline) Casetta, Hartford, Leon (Sharon) Casetta, Skokie, Ill., and Clark (Amy) Casetta, Wittenberg; nine grandsons, Craig, Brett, Kyle, Eric, Aaron, Marc, Brian, David and Daniel; one granddaughter, Corrine Sonnenberg; seven great-grandsons; eight great-granddaughters; two sisters-in-law, Lenora Spranger, Wittenberg, and Mary Londo, Arizona; and a brother-in-law, Leonard Goebel, Fond du Lac.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings, Marie Birschbach, Vivian Coenen, Kate Hahn, Josephine Goebel and Jack Thompson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at Holy Family-St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. The Rev. Patrick Lloyd will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, town of Hutchins, Shawano County. Visitation will be on Friday from 9-10:45 a.m. at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg.
