Donna Mae Miesbauer

Donna Mae Miesbauer, 87, of Shawano, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 1, 2015, at Bellin Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Donna was born March 14, 1928, in Rhinelander, daughter of the late OsBert and Mame (Behrend) Shipman. She attended the Rhinelander schools, graduating from Rhinelander High School in 1946. On Oct. 18, 1947, Donna was united in marriage to John J. Miesbauer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rhinelander. Following their marriage the couple lived in Rhinelander until 1961, when they moved their young family to Shawano. Her husband preceded her in death on March 28, 2000. Donna had been employed at the Cantwell-Peterson Clinic in Shawano for 25 years. She retired in 1990. Following her retirement the couple wintered in Mesa, Arizona, where they met many, many good friends. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano where she served as president of the Christian Mothers.

She was an avid bridge player, teaching bridge to anyone who wanted to learn. She enjoyed baking and was well known for her apple pie and pasties, among other things. Donna also enjoyed golfing and camping. When she started to slow down a bit, she kept busy embroidering dish towels.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Jeanne (Al) Boyd, of Shawano, Mary (Gene) Rohde, of Green Bay, Joseph (Lorraine) Miesbauer, of the town of Richmond, Teresa (John) Landau, of Keizer, Oregon, and Judy (Bruce) Herrmann, of Shawano; 15 grandchildren, Tim (Linda) Boyd, Brock Boyd, Jeremy (Sara) Rohde, Macy (Gary) Roberts, Joe (Cynthia) Miesbauer, Jason (Danae) Miesbauer, John (Alanna) Miesbauer, James (Rebecca) Miesbauer, Angie Sexton, Rachel (Joe Napier) Sexton, Elizabeth Landau; Matthew (Briana) Landau, Kathryn (Michael) Schmieding, Beth (Greg) Rusch, and Angie (Jason) Westphal; 20 great-grandchildren; her brother, Dr. Robert (Mary) Shipman, of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her sisters, Carol Garber and Jane Tillman.

A memorial Mass for Donna Miesbauer will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawano. The Rev. Luke Ferris will be the celebrant. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials in her name for Sacred Heart Catholic School.

The family thanks the staff of Oak Haven in Shawano as well as the doctors, nurses and CNAs on the fourth floor at Bellin Hospital for their kindness and care that Donna received.
