Lorraine A. Van der Linden, 96 years young, formerly of West Allis and Shawano, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, in Oconomowoc. Born on Feb. 26, 1917, in Milwaukee, she was the daughter of the late Gerhard and Hilda (Hahn) Sonnemann.
She was united in marriage to Sydney Van der Linden in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1997. Lorraine was a loving and giving person who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed time at the cottage on Long Lake as well as fishing and golfing. Lorraine was a member of the Eastern Star.
Lorraine is survived by her three sons, Wayne Van der Linden, of Shawano, Sydney “Skip” (Sandra) Van der Linden, of Florida, and Thomas (Karen) Van der Linden, of Oconomowoc; seven grandchildren, Glenn Van der Linden, of Shawano, Cheryl (Steve) Rouse, of Shawano, Craig Van der Linden, of Oconomowoc, Scott (Carrie) Van der Linden, of California, Joey (LeAnne) Van der Linden, of Milwaukee, Linda (Joe) Betla, of Florida, and Rusty (Dawn) Van der Linden, of Appleton; numerous great-grandchildren, including Stephanie, Brittney and Courtney Rouse, Carson, Avery and Cole Van der Linden, Michael Van der Linden, Jessica Van der Linden; and a brother, Dale (Marilyn) Sonnemann, of Pound.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Sydney; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Glenna Van der Linden; and three brothers, Gerhard, Howard and Arthur.
Private family services will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.
Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
