
Allen L. Matz, 67, Mattoon, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Langlade Hospital, Antigo. He was born on Sept. 12, 1947, in Eland, the son of the late Eddie and Violet (Wickman) Matz Sr.
On. Feb. 12, 1972, Allen was united in marriage to Ethel Bierman at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bowler. She survives. Allen was a graduate of Bowler High School. He was employed at Wisconsin Veneer and Plywood, Mattoon, for 41 years until his retirement in 2014.
Allen loved to garden, cut and haul wood and fishing. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan and especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; two daughters, Karla (Bill) Parmenter, Tigerton, Kerri (special friend, Dan Dallman) Matz, Hatley; two grandchildren, Billy Parmenter and Brittany Wistrom; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Hartleben and Gracie Rae Wistrom; four brothers, Art (Rhoda) Matz, Elroy (Julane) Matz, Eddie Matz and Dennis (Donna) Matz; five sisters, Arletta Kaufmann, Reka (Bill) Reynolds, Rose Serrano, June (Phil) Jasurda and Evelyn (Curtis) Low; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Matz; and many nieces and nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth, and one great-grandchild, Lilly Grace Wistrom.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Michael Schram will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Riverside Cemetery, town of Almon. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
