
Mary Jane Crowe, 76, of Neopit, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at her home. Born on Aug. 19, 1937, in Keshena, she was the daughter of the late George Wayka and Jane Waupoose.
On April 4, 1961, she was united in marriage to Curtis Crowe Sr. in Neopit. The couple made their home and raised their children in the Neopit area. Mary Jane was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who would do anything for her family. She loved spending time with them and loved traveling with her husband. Mary Jane was a faithful member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit. When not tending to her beloved family, Mary Jane enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo and listening to George Jones and Elvis Presley
Mary Jane is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Curtis; her children, Curtis (Virginia) Crowe Jr., of Middle Village, Eugene “Chester” Wayka, of Neopit, Carmen J. Crowe, of Neopit, Wendell (Eleanor) Crowe, of Madison, Carol Red Kettle, of Neopit, Brianna Crow, of Neopit; a special grandson, Joseph Soulier; a special great-grandson, Christopher Wynos; 30 grandchildren, Roselee Desjarlait, Curt Desjarlait, Fawne Teller, Darrell Crow, Dyan Nickey, Stephen Crow, Megan Crow, Rito Escalante, Delaina Escalante, Tara Wayka, Steve Crowe Jr., Tracy Teller, John Crowe, Daoma Teller, Randi Anderson, Shiann Anderson, Richard Anderson Jr., Reeannon Wynos, Wendell Crow Jr., Crystal Crow, Vince Crow, James Long, Richard Long, Jwin Crow, Joseph Red Kettle, Jodi Red Kettle, John Red Kettle, Amber Red Kettle, James Red Kettle; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mary Jane is further survived by seven siblings, Margaret Wayka, of Wausau, Patsy Notinokey, of Wausau, Joseph (Jessica) Notinokey Sr., of Neopit, John (special friend, Erin) Notinokey, of Green Bay, Barbara Warrington, of Neopit, Rose Wayka, of Midway, Georgianna (“Prune”) Tucker, of Keshena; and a special sister-in-law, Shirley Teller, of Midway.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her son, Stephan S. Crow Sr.; her daughter, MaryLu Crowe; two great-granddaughters, Danica Pamaska and Aurora Soulier; and her parents, George Wayka and Jane Notinokey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. David McElroy, O Praem, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held at the Red Kettle residence located at N3414 State Highway 47, Neopit, now until the procession leaves for the church on Monday. A parish wake service will be held at the residence on Sunday at 7 p.m.
