Daniel D. Dedolph

Daniel D. Dedolph, 71, of Tigerton, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Dan was born July 14, 1942, in Tigerton to Eugene and Ione (Cannon) Dedolph. In 1960, he graduated from Tigerton High School. He was united in marriage on March 3, 1962, to Sharla M. Ladwig. The couple moved to Slinger, where they raised their family. During that time, Dan worked at an asphalt plant and also as a diesel mechanic. Then he was employed for some years doing bridge construction as a crane operator, retiring in 1998. After retirement, the couple returned to Tigerton, where they both spent their childhood and school years. Dan designed a beautiful shop at their home where he enjoyed working on various projects.

He especially loved taking care of his woodlands, earning the Shawano County and District 7 Tree Farmer of the Year Award in 2006. His other interests included hunting, a few fishing trips to Canada, and relaxing with his beloved black lab, Maggie. His memberships included the Local 139 Operating Engineers and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Dan will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sharla; two sons, Mark (Debbie) Dedolph, of Tigerton, and Steven (Mary) Dedolph, of Slinger. There are three granddaughters, Jennifer, Stephanie and Leah, and one grandson, Matt. There is one great-granddaughter, Lucinda; one grandstepdaughter, Ezra; and two step great-stepgrandchildren, Kyle and Katie. There are three brothers, Don (Jane), of Jackson, Dion, of Tigerton, and Dominic (Gina), of Janesville. He is further survived by several nieces, many other relatives and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman and Margaret Ladwig; one nephew, Donovan Dedolph; an aunt, Margaret Cannon; and three uncles, Roy, Lee and Jack Dedolph.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Tigerton. The Rev. Patrick Lloyd will officiate, and burial will be in the spring at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Friends may call on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.
