
George W. Frank, 97, passed away Feb. 28, 2015. He was born Feb. 18, 1918, in the town of Underhill to the late William and Hattie (Smith) Frank.
George married Marie Dicke on Dec. 26, 1945. He served his country during World War II, spending three years in the Pacific region. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 2009 he participated in the Honors Flight.
He farmed on the family farm until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau and served as a director. He loved to travel, and his favorite destination was the Great Wall of China. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and making firewood.
George is survived by his wife, Marie, of 69 years; one son, Gary (Jean) Frank; four daughters, Wanda (Noel) Nienstedt and Jane Frederick, all of Gillett, Paula (Norman) Buhrandt, of Suring, and Lynn (Michael) Kaufman, of Cary, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren, Carlye Frank, Lindsey Nienstedt, Kelli Frederick, Kyle (Kelly) Frederick, Trisha (Jason) Stage, Tabatha (Rich) Koehler, Paul (special friend Angie) Buhrandt, Kurt (JoAnna) Buhrandt, Mark (special friend Sarah) Buhrandt, Kathryn (Josh) Zellmer, Aubrey Kaufman; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister in-law, Kathryn Firgens, and many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Arthur, Benjamin, Nels (Bub), Warren and Rueben; one sister, Jenny Mogenson; and a grandson, Lance Frank.
Zastrow Funeral Home of Cecil is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held at Zastrow Funeral Home in Cecil from 9 a.m. until the memorial service at 11 a.m. on March 7, 2015, with the Rev. Mike Paholke officiating.
