
Bernice T. Schoedel, 94, of Shawano, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at a local nursing home. Born on Dec. 9, 1919, in Milwaukee, she was the daughter of the late George and Thecla (Lemberger) Meiller.
On Oct. 17, 1953, she was united in marriage to Donald Schoedel in Milwaukee. After marriage the couple made their home in the Shawano area. Bernice worked as a stenographer at the Shawano County Courthouse for several years. She and her husband were actively involved with the county 4-H program and were members of the Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano.
Bernice is survived by her sisters-in-law, Karen (Leo) Trepes, of Crivitz, Kathy Butcher, of Mission, Texas, and Jane Schoedel, of West Bend; her nephew, George Meiller, of Watertown; and nieces and nephews, Sue Schoedel, Kris Laubenstein, Sally Jurss, Dawn Tolson, Diane Lee, Eric Schoedel and Cindy Zipter.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Don, on June 27, 2008, her parents and two brothers, Oliver (Evelyn) Meiller and George (Florence) Meiller Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at the Pinelawn Memorial Park Chapel in Milwaukee with the Rev. Tom Griffey officiating. Burial will take place in the Pinelawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the chapel in Milwaukee from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bernice’s name to the Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano.
Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
