
Robert “Bob” Roberts, 85, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014. Born on April 26, 1929, in Stevens Point, he is the son of the late Anton and Agnes (Przybylski) Wroblewski. He attended St. Stanislaus Grade School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1947. Bob graduated from Coyme Technical Institute in Chicago, specializing in electronics. On Dec. 27, 1952, Bob was united in marriage to Violet C. Patoka in Amherst. Bob and Vi started their life together in Milwaukee before eventually moving back to Stevens Point. After retirement, the couple moved to their summer home on Shawano Lake. Bob and Vi enjoyed tropical vacations and winters in both Florida and Texas for many years. The couple loved traveling throughout the United States with their family, while learning the history and geography of this great country. Bob was also fortunate to experience camping, fishing, and hunting trips in Alaska with Vi and his two sons. Bob was the owner and operator of Bob’s TV and Appliance in Stevens Point for many years and also proudly served in the United States National Guard for 13 years.
Bob is survived by his four children, Bobbi Cornell, of Cecil, Cindy Elliott, of Stevens Point, Brian (Geri Williams) Roberts and Brad Roberts, both of Anchorage, Alaska; his adopted son/nephew, Eugene (Debby) Patoka, of Stevens Point; his five grandchildren, Justin (Krissy) Cornell, Shannon (Jake) Griebe, Samantha Cornell, Lucas Elliott, and Isaac Elliott. He was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Morgan and Wyatt Cornell and Maximus and Alex Griebe. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Vi, on Sept. 14, 2012, his parents, his sister, Gen Barwick, his brothers, Eric, Leonard and Tony Wroblewski and numerous other relatives.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cecil with Deacon Mike Grezca officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested donations to the charity of your choice in the name of Robert J. Roberts.
