
Miss Anna H. Brunner, 90, of Shawano, passed away quietly Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at Kindred Hearts of Shawano, where she had been a resident for the past two years.
Anna was born April 3, 1924, in Shawano, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dillenburg) Brunner. Anna attended the Shawano schools, graduating from Shawano High School in 1942. Following high school, she attended St. Catherine’s College, St. Paul, Minnesota, Oshkosh State Teachers College, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Edgewood College in Madison, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in teaching.
Anna taught school in Tigerton, Waupun and, for three years as a lay teacher, at Edgewood College. She then traveled to Marrakech, French Morroco, Africa to teach. She finished her teaching career in the Shawano area.
Anna was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. She was an avid gardener.
She is survived by her two brothers, Martin Brunner and Michael (Darla) Brunner, both of Shawano. She also has one sister surviving, Mary Stieber, of Marathon. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by four brothers, Anton, John, George and Frank Brunner. Four sisters, Frances Lieg, Elizabeth Jeske, Margaret Adams and Magdalen Bartz, also preceded Anna in death.
A Funeral Mass for Anna H. Brunner will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano. The Rev. Luke Ferris will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
