Judith Ann (Reichel) Zander, 75, formerly of Zumbrota, Minnesota, passed away on Sept. 28, 2014, at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester, Minnesota.
Judy was born Sept. 26, 1939, in Shawano, to the late Harold and Henrietta Reichel. She grew up in Shawano and graduated from high school there in 1957. Judy subsequently graduated from the Deaconess School of Nursing in Milwaukee in 1959. She married Richard Zander at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano in September 1960 and divorced in 1982. During family moves to Massachusetts, Ohio, California, Texas and Kentucky, Judy, as a working mother, was employed as a registered nurse, real estate broker, vocational education health careers teacher and retail sales associate. Judy enjoyed participating in training Arabian horses for western saddle competitions as well as costume. She enjoyed gardening, interior decorating, playing piano, knitting for others and attending her grandchildren’s school events, who were a very big part of her life.
Judy is survived by her three children, Robert (Belinda) Zander, of Grenada, Mississippi, Beth (Mark) Windhorst, of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, Rebecca (Joe) Zeipen, of Jenison, Michigan; six grandchildren, AJ and Nick Zander, Lauren and Carleigh Windhorst, Jon and Anna Zeipen; one brother, the Rev. H. Gene (Patricia) Reichel, of York, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to attend visitation at Spring Garden Lutheran Church in rural Cannon Falls, Minnesota, on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 4-6 p.m. and the memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. Interment, and a small service, will be held at the Woodlawn Shawano City Cemetery in Shawano on Friday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or Cottagewood Senior Communities, Rochester, Minnesota.
