Dora Grace Egan, 78, of Pella, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, at her farm. She was born on Nov. 22, 1935, in Pella, daughter of the late Otto and Lillian Moede.
Dora moved to Milwaukee in 1957 and married Thomas Egan on July 12, 1958. He passed away on March 16, 1981.
Dora is survived by their four children, Jill (Robert) Cone, Kim Egan, Ellen Kohls and Thomas (Sally) Egan. She is survived by four grandchildren, Alex and Callahan Kohls, and Kegan and Brenna Clarke. She is also survived by four siblings, Elda Tellock, Alvin (Julie) Moede, Gerald (Kathy) Moede and Janice Garity.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Alice Shankey and Lila Wenzel.
Dora lived most of her adult life in Milwaukee, but moved back to the homestead in 1989 to care for her ailing father. She loved animals, gardening, conservation and football pools. She always had time for friends and a smile on her face. She made people laugh — belly laugh, and was known and loved by many in both the Shawano and Milwaukee areas. She was the 2014 grand marshal of the Pella Daze parade.
Like Cher, or Prince, she didn’t need a last name. She was Dora.
Funeral services for Dora will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Hermansfort. Pastor Steven Conradt will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cats Anonymous, 2701 Larsen Ave, Green Bay, WI 54303.
Mickelson Funeral and Cremation Service of Shawano is assisting the Egan Family.
