
Frederick Geoffrey “Fred” Hinshelwood, 83, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, in Keshena.
Fred was born on May 26, 1932, in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late Valentine and Edrie (Leonhart) Hinshelwood. He served our country by enlisting in the United States Army. After his discharge, he went to the seminary. On March 12, 1977, Fred was united in marriage to Marty Gilpin in Sandwich, Illinois. Fred was a member of The Church on the Hill, United Methodist Church in Shawano, the president of Ottawa Community Players, a member of Sandwich Community Players, the president of Box in the Woods Theater Guild and a third-degree Mason. He enjoyed boating and writing, but more than anything, loved spending time with his family and friends.
Fred is survived by his wife, Marty; his children, Mark (Kim) Hinshelwood, of Ottawa, Illinois, Kevin (fiancée, Dori Kruglick) Hinshelwood, of Mettawa, Illinois, Katie (Kraig) Duggan, of Ottawa, Illinois, Molly (Raymond) Gorzney, of Plano, Illinois, Lisa Allen, of Lake Villa, Illinois, Sam (Lisa) Gilpin, of Johns Island, South Carolina, and Mark Larson, of Oroville, California; grandchildren, Krista (Heather), Steve (Sarah), Sara, Zack, Ethan, Emma, Erich, Josh, Christopher and Kyle; as well as two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Delani.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George Hinshelwood, and two sisters, Patricia Davis and Barbara Hinshelwood.
A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. at The Church on the Hill, with a fellowship following at the church.

In the last months of Fred’s life, God blessed Fred with a multitude of talented, helpful and loving caregivers. On the top of this list is Dr. Christa Andrews-Fike, the dedicated staff at Evergreen, ThedaCare at Home Hospice, ThedaCare Hospital ER personal, the on-call doctors and the never tiring nurses on the floor.
