Janet Ruth Garside, 71, of Shawano, passed away on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, in Appleton.
Janet was born on Nov. 27, 1943, in Lancaster to the late Eugene and Lenice (Stippich) Lomas. She graduated from Fennimore High School in 1961. On March 2, 1963, Janet was united in marriage to Lawrence Garside in Fennimore. They spent 52 wonderful married years together, living in Janesville for 35 of those years. The couple retired in 2000 and moved to Shawano.
Janet enjoyed bowling, traveling, fishing and watching the loons on Shawano Lake. She was also a Badgers and Packers fan. More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her husband, Larry; their two sons, Terry Garside, of Cudahy, and Gary Garside, of Bonduel; five grandchildren, Adam, Zachary, Isaac, Alexander and Sarah Garside; and one sister, Mary Ann (Jack) Bukoski, of Byron, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Irene Sweeney.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Loretta Waegli officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
